(conventions of the type of music and expectations)
Camera: Shot/Angle/Movement
(How is the camera used to keep the audiences attention?
How is it used to sell the product?
At what points in the song are close ups used to cover the performance?)
Fast paced colourful shots to keep the audience’s concentration, attention to keep up with what is on screen.
The more concentrated the audience are, the more interested they are in the song therefore more likely to purchase the single.
Opening begins with a flash of bright lights and loud drum - beginning gains interest straight away.
Close ups on the singer’s face whilst singing the lyrics adds depth to the video.
“So hot in the Amazon” – reveals their intended location on screen.

“She’s gonna teach me how to swim” - dancers do a rippling gesture resembling water with their hand. (mid shot)

“Do what you feel now” the camera pans across the actors/dancers to show their extravagant outfits to show individuality.

Close up shots of the artist singing the lyrics at the same time to audience hears the, makes it recognisable as a music video.

Begins with the sun risen and ends at night.

(How does it represent mood of the music and image of the band?
Location – The Amazon rainforest. Green foliage and brown tree trunks in all directions. Experimental costumes consisting of fur tops, fluorescent orange shorts, fingerless gloves, ripped jumpers, Majority of backing dancers wearing typical hippie outfits. some wearing extravagant hats. Some of the backing actors/dancers wearing full fac paint. Hair long and shaggy (indie) Dancing = band mainly bopping heads moving slowly from side to side, whereas backing dancers throwing arms in the air spinning around generally more enthusiastic. This gives the band a laid back “cool” image whereas the music your listening to you expect the audience to dance like the backing dancers which emphasises the bands originality.

Sun rises with the sky yellow orange and red to clearly show the beginning of a day.

The end of the music video is dark and black sky with only light coming from the moon to clearly represent night time.

The costumes and face paint makes it obvious that it’s a music video as it is considered usual now for people to dress so experimentally in a music video rather than videoing people in public.

Describe the events/idea or concept behind this music video.
(Write a treatment for it)

He is singing about a powerful girl who is “electric” and his sexual energy he has for her.
In the video they attach the moon to the ground with wires and cut it open and spread the liquid from inside it over each other’s faces…
However it is generally people dancing in the Amazon to the live music being played.

Describe the recognisable aspects of style and content expected to be found in an example of a music video of this genre.

The alternative, experimental genre is expected to have odd events going on, not necessarily making any sense to the audience i.e it could just be random shapes. We expect to see bright colours unusual costumes, make-up, hair, props, dancing which as fun and unique as possible.
